Short Track Lovin’ – Chapter 94: Axaltra Pocono 400

Chase walks into the garage area, hearing commotion down in one of the other stalls as he glanced over confused, before looking at his guys.

“What’s going on there?” He questions, catching his guy’s attention.

“Another poisoning incident,” Jared Erspamer states with a shiver of his own as he thought back to his own bout. “One of the Joe Gibbs guys.” Chase looks on shocked as he shakes his head.

“Crazy…. Is he going to be okay?” Alan shrugs his shoulders, not sure yet as they hadn’t heard many details.

“Regardless, the garage has been a fury of activity with cops questioning every single person that they can come across,” Alan states. “So boys, now that we’ve been left alone, can we get to work?” A mix of sighs and head shakes as the boys scatter around the car. Chase remains with Alan, shaking his head. “I think I figured out something that will work today – or at least, I can say that I’ve put in a good effort. I’ve changed everything.”

“Well, you’re not quite there yet,” Chase comments. “You’re still stuck with me.” Alan smiles as he looks over at his driver.

“Look at it this way, then. If we suck today, I say we change the driver next.” Chase looks on shocked as Alan just laughs. “We’ll be fine, kid. Don’t worry. Just be careful, alright?” Chase shakes his head yes.

“Ugh, found him finally!” Sarina lets out as she enters the garage stall, walking up to Chase and giving him a big hug. “I missed you!”

“I missed you too,” Chase says as he keeps his arms wrapped around her. “What do you mean ‘finally’? You could’ve texted me.” She pulls out her phone, hitting the button to turn it on with no power. “You killed your phone, again?”

“I forgot to charge it last night and then I left my bag with the cord and portable charger in the hauler.” He shakes his head in disbelief. “So I landed this morning in Pennsylvania with my brother. He came here pretty shortly after, and my plan was to find you. Well, that didn’t happen right away as I got tied up with Kyle and Samantha, and oh lawdy that was a discussion of everything from here to there. I think Kyle knows every bitty detail that happened in Texas now.” Chase chuckles, knowing how thorough Kyle could be at times.

“It’s what makes him one of the best team owners to drive for, though.” She knew that was right, whether she agreed to the discussion or not. She would’ve rather been cuddling Chase sooner.

“So anyway, after we got done, I went to your motorcoach and no dice. So then I went and saw Ryan because heck, you normally hang out with him and it’s early. Well, no dice there – but he wanted to chit chat about Texas, too. So another 10 minutes wasted and then I made my way to the garage area. I asked my brother if he saw you but that retreated to no avail so after checking two other spots, I found you.”

“Sounds like you had quite the morning.” She shakes her head yes. “Now, does this excitement compare anything to the weekend that was in Texas?” She laughs and shakes her head no.

“That IndyCar race freaking bananas. I mean, I can’t believe the amount of carnage and wrecks as you normally don’t have that. I honestly couldn’t believe what I was watching. By the way, I’m wondering if Tony Kanaan is alright because I think someone may have kicked his ass by now. Did you see what happened with him and Rossi, and then with Hinch?” Chase shakes his head yes, having watched the race.

“Pack racing and IndyCars don’t mix well.” She rolls her eyes, growing old of the ‘pack racing’ excuse for the wrecks.

“Smarter driving would’ve also helped, too. Bu anyways, it was pretty good. The Stadium Super Trucks were great to watch, too. Sheldon Creed had his showstopper nickname for a reason, and it’s always fun joking with Robby for awhile.” She then wraps her fingers around his hand. “But I will admit – I missed you a ton and at some points during yesterday, I wished I had flown my butt here to see you sooner. I love you.”

“I love you, too. I’m glad you’re here for the race today.” He leans in and kisses her lips.

The pair spent the morning – or what they could of it, hanging out and continuing to chat back and forth about their recent experiences. Sarina then reluctantly let him go so he could attend the driver’s meeting, followed by a couple sponsor appearances and then joined him on pit road after driver intros.

A quick wish of success, followed by another kiss, and it was time for the race to begin.

The efforts put in by Alan Gustafson over night to change over the car completely worked as Chase was able to work his way into the top-10, despite starting back in 25th. Throughout the race, he ran amongst some of the fast cars, cracking the top-five mid-way. However, a mix of strategy saw him fall back out, en route to a solid top-10 finish.

That wasn’t the highlight of the day, though, as all eyes had been on his best friend. He couldn’t contain the excitement for Ryan after hearing how well he had worked to get by Kyle Busch, followed by holding off Kevin Harvick to the line for the victory.

After a quick chat with Alan, followed by a quick kiss and hug from Sarina, he made his way to victory lane, immediately giving his buddy a hug and congratulations.

“Awesome job, man!” He says as Blaney just looks back with a pure smile.

“Thanks buddy,” he replies. “Are you coming to the party?” Chase smiles, shaking his head yes. There was no way that he’d miss it.

“I’ll be there – and we’ll have a good ‘ol time tonight.” Ryan laughs as he watches Chase head out of victory lane. Chase catches up with Sarina, wrapping an arm around her as they head back to the trailer together.

“You don’t mind spending some time at Ryan’s party tonight, do you?” He questions and she shakes her head no.

With Ryan’s media obligations, the party did not actually get started till midnight when he was able to finish up, fly home and then get back to the house. Though as soon as he arrived, there was no stopping the fun that ensued. Throughout the house and in the pool, all different drivers and their significant others could be found, living it up and having a ball to celebrate the night.

Chase spent time goofing off in the pool with Bubba and Ryan, including a couple cannon balls, before going to find Sarina and where she had headed off to.

“I thought you got lost,” he comments as he walks up behind her, wrapping his arms around her as he lays his head on her shoulder.

“Nah, me, Amy and Paige have been just kidding around about your antics,” she replies as he gives her a surprised glance.

“My antics? I’m innocent tonight, sweetheart.” She then laughs as she had seen the cannonball into the pool, along with the attempt at karoke.

“Go ask Jack if he believes you….” He then chuckles as he glances over at the bottle of Jack Daniels he had split with Ryan. “Little tipsy there, Elliott? Need me to hold you up?”

“Nah, I’m good.” He then stands up and starts to walk away, wobbling a little as she rolls her eyes.

“Good luck with him tomorrow morning,” Amy comments with a chuckle of her own.

“I wouldn’t be so certain that you won’t be in the same situation,” Sarina replies, pointing to Dale, who jumped off the small mound into the pool for another cannon ball with laughs spewing.

“That, my dear, is a trained party professional. He can handle this.”

“I’ll be sure to remind you of those words when you call me tomorrow whining about his complaining of a headache,” Paige teases as Sarina just laughs. “Why are boys nuts?”

“Because that’s why we love them so much,” Amy reasons as Paige rolls her eyes. “I know this girl is in love and will actually admit it now.” A smile forms on Sarina’s face at the comment as Paige looks over.

“Oooooo, she finally fell for the Elliott charm? Oh my….”

“Oh no, she fell immediately. She was just afraid to tell us that.” Sarina rolls her eyes. “Listen, it’s great, though. Dale even said the same thing I’m going to tell you – we can see it on both your faces. You guys are great together, deserve each other, and make a great couple. I see a lifetime of happiness.”

“Going to the chapel of love, going to get married….” Amy chuckles at Paige’s singing as she glances at the wine bottle.

“I think she’s had her fair share tonight.” Sarina laughs as Paige grabs the bottle, taking another drink, before going to look for Brad.

Short Track Lovin’ – Chapter 93: A Watch Party

Everybody meets up in the hotel room, taking various spots on the pair of couches and floor with snacks and drinks spread out. It was going to be an entertaining night….

“Calling it now – Johnny Sauter for the win!” Alan proclaims, causing a couple surprised glances.

“You’re seriously saying that in front of Sarina’s boy?” Eddie D’Hondt questions as Alan shrugs his shoulders.

“I’m going to win….”

“In your dreams,” Chase says, having a good feeling about that night.

“I’m taking Bell,” Eddie comments, causing Chase to roll his eyes. “We all know who Chase is taking.”

“BKR trucks deserve a win – Briscoe or Cindric, I don’t give a damn which one,” Jared Seate comments.

“How are you guys betting against Crafton on an intermediate track?” Chad Avrit wonders, noting down everyone’s picks on a piece of paper.

“Well you guys are unfair in taking all the good picks, but I’ll snag Rhodes,” Jared Erspamer says.

“Guess that leaves me Nemechek,” Nick O’Dell figures as he glances through the driver’s list. “Can we come up with a better picking order next time?”

“Long as I get Sarina each time, I don’t care,” Chase says as the boys just roll their eyes.

All the eyes focused on the screen, watching Sarina lead the first several laps ahead of the field to Chase’s joy. Though as they got into the run, there was no stopping Johnny Sauter as he made the pass, taking the lead with a smile forming for Alan.

As the guys focused on various parts of the event, Chase focused on Sarina and how she was running, watching her fade back a couple spots. He watched as she dropped back to eighth by the end of the stage, knowing some adjustments were needed for the long haul.

“You’re not growing nervous, are you?” Jared questions, eyes focused on Chase. “There’s still quite a bit to go….”

“I’m confident in Marcus and know that they’ll get her working better,” he comments, knowing that Marcus was always good in adjusting for Timothy Peters through the years and had grown a good reputation with Sarina so far. He just hoped that paid off tonight.

“I told you that I’d win!” Alan comments, as he steals the chip bowl from Chad, earning a stern look from him.

“That’s just a stage – doesn’t mean shit,” Chad says as Alan looks on, intrigued.

“Do you realize how much that one playoff point could come into play come November?” Chad knew that Alan was right, but wasn’t set to give in.

“It doesn’t matter who is leading now, but who gets the white and black flag at the end of the race, and I told you who’d that be.”

“It’s not going to be Crafton tonight,” Chase comments. “Notice how much he is struggling on the get go of a run? He loses too much time.” Chad rolls his eyes, but he knew that Chase was right in his comments.

“Junior Joiner can make just as good as an adjustment as Marcus so don’t be counting your chickens yet,” Chad states. “Besides, I think he’s running better than your girl, and that’s how the night is going to go…”

“Those are fighting words,” Nick O’Dell comments, holding up a pillow as he peeks from around it, causing laughs.

“I don’t want any food fights tonight, okay?” Alan declares. “I don’t want to tell Rick that I had to void the security deposit due to needing them to clean the room since I had a bunch of rowdy kids as crew members get into a food fight, again.” The boys laugh, remembering the last time they got together to watch something – hockey – and the result being food flying across the room as they debated penalties.

“I still say that call against Crosby was unfair,” Chad states as Nick rolls his eyes.

“Will you let it go already?” Nick questions. “Your team is in the finals. Shouldn’t that be a big enough reason to forget?” Chad shakes his head no as Nick lets out a sigh. “Ridiculous. I hope Nashville kicks his ass.”

“And I hope you choke on your chips.” Nick looks on shocked as Alan just rolls his eyes.

“Boys, they’re going back green,” he says. “Let’s just focus on the race, please…..”

Everybody quiets down as the race goes back green for the second stage. Just like the first stage, everything went smoothly without any major incidents. While Sauter led throughout, it’d be Christopher Bell snagging the stage victory with Sarina finishing eighth as she ran just outside the top-10 throughout.

“Come on Marcus,” Chase comments, fingers crossed that Marcus actually adjusted the truck enough this time.

“Any comment, crew chief?” Eddie asks as he looks over at Alan, in reference to Christopher beating Johnny.

“That’s not the final checkered on the night so like they said, no counting chickens yet,” Alan says. “She seems like she’s loose. If he would go up on the trackbar or adjust the air pressures, she’ll probably be fine.” Chase knew that Alan was probably right, hoping Marcus got the idea based on what they were seeing.

“Isn’t it tricky though with the turns configured a little differently?” Jared Seate questions and Alan shakes his head yes.

“But we got it trickier with Pocono having three different corners. By the way, Chase, I want you to jot down after what you felt each corner and scale it so I can think it over tonight.” Chase shakes his head accepting as he takes the piece of paper from the crew chief.

“Chasey got homework….”

“Jared is still a little brat,” Chase comments, causing some laughs amongst the group.

Everybody turned serious as the race went back to green, with Christopher leading as Chase Briscoe moved into the second spot, looking for every way he could around the No. 4. All eyes were focused on the battle for the lead – well, except for a pair, who were watching for some progress out of the No. 18.

With about 65 laps still on the board, though, a grasp of shock escaped Chase as he watched the No. 18 make an abrupt turn off the track on to pit road.

“Not again,” he comments out loud, referencing the fact that it seemed each week, trouble found them. He watched as she made the pit stop, before returning back to the track.

“Loose wheel,” Chad Avrit reads off of twitter as Chase looks over in surprise.

“Seriously?” Chad shakes his head yes. “Of course because what else would it be? I mean, it’s not like anything can just go normal for a night. Oh no, that’s been her season with one thing after another. If she could just knock out some solid quiet nights, then maybe she could be like Mr. Bell and winning and leading. But oh no, we got to find issue after issue after issue.”

“She was also speeding so she has to come back down.” Chase then rolls his eyes, ready to head out then and there.

“You’re kidding?” Chad shakes his head no. “Why oh why, Sarina? You should know better. She got busted for that some place else. You’d think she’d remem-”

“She thought she had a serious problem and turned quickly. It’s understandable if she speeds a little.” Chase rolls his eyes.

“You’ve done it, too,” Alan reminds him as Chase lets out a sigh, knowing that Alan was right. However, it didn’t make this any easier watching as he watched her slip two laps down, sitting back in 19th.

Chase was set to give up entirely on the night when the caution flew about 20 laps later for Stewart Frisen hitting the wall. He immediately put faith in that they’d take the wave around to at least get one lap back.

“She won’t make it on fuel if she does that,” Alan concedes, watching her head down pit road. “Remember she pitted about 10 laps shy. If we get no more cautions, she’s screwed worse than already.”

“Besides, there’s still vibration complaints per twitter,” Chad adds.

“Of course there is,” Chase says as he rolls his eyes. “They should be putting on a wheel spacer as they probably fucked the studs.” The comment catches a couple of the crew members off guard as they look back at their driver. “It’s true…”

The race goes back to green, with the caution flying once again sooner as Myatt Snider gets into the turn two wall and spins. Chase could only let out a sigh, wondering what Kyle was thinking between the issues for both Sarina and Myatt now.

“The way this is going, Bell is going to get taken out by Briscoe,” Chase comments, barely even wanting to pay attention.

“Hey!” Eddie and Jared Seate both let out at the same time as Chase rolls his eyes.

“Nothing would surprise me anymore.”

“Wheel spacer is on now,” Chad comments, having read the latest tweet from KBM.

“Now?” Chase questions. “So they didn’t do that before? Geez, what are they? A bunch of rookies? I bet Kyle is fuming in his motorcoach right now.”

They watch the race go back to green, eyes focused on the battle up front between the leaders, along with seeing Justin Haley get loose, sliding up to Nemechek with Nemechek getting in the wall heavily for the caution.

“There goes my bloody pick, thanks to Haley,” Nick O’Dell comments. “I told you being stuck with Nemechek was shit.”

“He should’ve had ran down as close to Haley’s door then,” Chase replies as Nick could just roll his eyes in annoyance. “On a brighter note, thanks to your buddy for getting me my girl a lap back.”

“Feeling a little better there?” Jared Seate questions as Chase perks up a little.

“Just need one more caution and with the way these guys drive, that shouldn’t be hard.”

“Can I have a new pick, please?” Nick questions and the boys shake their heads no. “So first I get last pick and get stuck with crap-head, and then now I don’t even get a second shot?”

“Cheater cheater pumpkin eater,” Chad teases as Nick flips the bird.

“Boys….” Alan warns as he glances up from his notes at them.

“Just because your guy is still in it, you can’t be an ass for us,” Nick says as Alan just rolls his eyes.

“Remind me that this is the last time that we do this.” Jared then pouts, having ideas for next weekend already.

“But I wanted to have a get together for Gateway,” he states as Alan rolls his eyes, again.

“Do it somewhere else, but not with me involved, please. Oh, and Sauter is going to win because jackass 1 and jackass two are going to wreck each other like Chase said originally. They’re driving each other too hard to keep it clean.” Eddie and Jared then both laugh as they watch the field get ready to go back green.

The green flag flies with eyes set on the battle for first between Bell and Briscoe. The battle didn’t last long, though, with the caution flying once again for smoke pouring out the back of Grant Enfinger. It brought a smile to Chase’s face, though, as he knew that meant Sarina was back on the lead lap with 14 laps to go.

“I’ve never seen someone smile at someone blowing up,” Alan comments with a glance over towards Chase.

“You obviously haven’t seen those who hate Kyle Busch when he has a bad day,” Chase says. “But everything’s great now that Sarina is back on the lead lap.”

“Should we remind you of when you were throwing in the towel?” Jared Seate questions and Chase rolls his eyes.

“I never give up on my girl.” The boys then chuckle as they think back to his words.

“You almost left….”

“You figured it was all over with no hope in the kitty,” Chad adds as Chase lets out a sigh. Perhaps he did over-react, but you couldn’t blame him. He was passionate about how well she was going to do that night.

“Well maybe I’ll get a top-10 after all,” he comments, eyes focused as the restart was set to take place.

Over the final stretch of laps – and two more cautions, eyes never left the screen as they watched Sarina battle back, crossing the finish line in seventh for another solid top-10. Meanwhile, among the controversy of the last lap caution (Timothy Peters flipped), it was Bell snagging the win ahead of Briscoe by a nose.

Down in Texas, Sarina climbed from the truck with a smile on her face. It certainly wasn’t the win or top-five she had envisioned after setting the quickest time, but she wasn’t going to complain. If you would’ve told her that she would’ve had a top-10 after going two laps down, she would’ve said you were nuts. However, with high fives for all the guys and a hug for Marcus, she knew they’d put in a good nights work with a well-deserved finish.

“Sorry about that loose wheel there,” Marcus apologizes once she’s done media interviews. “I got to get these guys in line as we can’t be having that.”

“It happens as we all make mistakes,” she comments. “I’ve made my fair share this year. One mistake by the guys is going to happen. As long as we can come back stronger, that’s what matters. We’ll go get them at Gateway.” Marcus couldn’t help but smile with her positivity, knowing that she could be hard on herself from Chase.

“I’m confident about Gateway and Iowa. We have a good short track program at KBM, and I know you have ran well there previously. It’s just about putting it all together.”

“We’re going to make magic happen…..” Marcus could only smile, liking the sounds of that.

A VampWolf Wedding – Chapter 17: Axaltra Pocono 400

“Are you sure we should be here?” Alice Cullen asks as she glances over at her brother.

“We need to warn her,” he answers. “It’s the only fair thing to do.” Alice rolls her eyes as she crosses her arms.

“But really, warn her here? In front of everybody that she knows who isn’t supposed to know a drop of her world?” Edward knew the timing could’ve been better, but he wasn’t about to waste any either.

“I’m sure we can find some quiet time, and you can be here since you have that pass.” Alice looks down at the pass around her neck, reading it over, before letting it go and rolling her eyes. She still wanted to know how Edward had gotten it for her quickly.

“Why doesn’t Danny or Yolanda do this stuff?” Edward knew the answer, obviously, having spoken with Danny.

“It’s called they’re babysitting Melody and she can’t be around humans right now. Hello full moon time, hello random changing. Do you want to scare everybody and make them thing Keselowski is an alien?” Alice thinks it over, having some doubts over Brad. It wasn’t that too shabby of a plan.

“Hey….” Brad says as he opens the door, glancing between the pair confused. “I wasn’t expecting guests this weekend….” Edward walks past Brad, with Alice following in toe. “Don’t I get any explanation?”

“Shut the door,” Edward states as he glances between Juliette and Brad, both looking at him with confused glances. Brad closes the door as requested, before focusing his eyes on the pair.

“You don’t normally come around….” Alice shakes her head no, not really having any desires to deal with vampires after the first round. “Why are you here?”

“Because she came with me on an important assignment.”

“Assignment?” Juliette questions and Edward shakes his head yes.

“You see visions of the future….” Brad recalls and Alice shakes her head yes this time. “Why don’t I like this idea at all?”

“Because perhaps it means danger is coming your way and you’re scared,” Alice comments as Brad lets out a sigh. He knew it was never good to see her. “Alright, look. Word has spread that you guys are set to get married in a month and that obviously doesn’t sit well with people. Needless to say, there’s some vampires who are out to find you and well, destroy you.”

“How did you come across this information?” Brad wanted to laugh it off, believe it was just another random scare.

“How the hell am I supposed to protect him when we’re busy with our lives?” Juliette demands, feeling a shake of fear as she knew what the people were capable of.

“The message was dropped off by a fellow mate who knows the group but actually likes you,” Edward informs Brad. “He told me it would be wise for me to warn you. So here I am with your warning, sir. As far as protecting him, just be careful and watchful. They’re not going to strike during the day so just watch what you’re doing at night and who you’re hanging around. Oh, and never go anyplace alone.” Juliette glances over at Brad as he rolls his eyes.

“He’s serious, Keselowski,” Juliette says with a stern voice.

“I have seen visions of a meeting with a deadly consequence,” Alice starts. “People in a room, discussing, plans of death for someone else. Needless to say, this fits that vision adequately.” She then pulls out a piece of paper, handing it to the pair. “Those are the people I see. Stay far from them.” Brad and Juliette unfold the piece of paper, looking at it together. They couldn’t place the people anywhere from the drawings.

“Thanks….” Juliette didn’t want to be comfortable with the news, given the danger that she knew laid over their heads.

“We must be going. But we thought we should tell you. Goodbye.” Alice and Edward then head for the door together.

“You’re not even going to stay for the race?” They look back, shaking their heads no. “That’s crazy!”

“We got things to do, people to see. We just wanted to protect you.” Without another word, the pair left the motorcoach, leaving Juliette and Brad standing there, facing each other in silence.

“We’ll be fine,” Brad says quietly as he reaches out, pulling her close and kissing her forehead. “We’ll be fine. I love you, and I’ll do whatever it takes for you. We’ll be fine….”

***************************************

Brad laces his fingers with Juliette as they head back to the motorcoach lot together. It had been a great day at Pocono Raceway. He had a solid finish, and watched one of his good friends Ryan Blaney snagged his first career victory. Needless to say, they also knew it’d be a late night with the party about to ensue.

“Looks like we have a party to go to,” Brad comments as they reach the motorcoach. “I know you’re missing Melody so you can go see her with Danny, and I’ll do the party alon-”

“There’s no way in hell that I’m letting you out of my sight!” Juliette cuts him off, causing Brad to spin around instantly. “You heard what Alice and Edward said. They’re also most likely to strike at night. Perfect opportunity while you’re drinking your ass off with Dale and Ryan, and not aware.”

“So you’re coming to play bodyguard?” She shakes her head yes.

“Besides, I know Ryan just as well as you do. Don’t you think I deserve to come? Danny will understand.” Brad lets out a sigh, agreeing to it as he goes to the back to get changed.

“You know, you still owe me one….” She then smiles as she walks down the hall, leaning against the door frame. “You said that having a weekend alone, you’d offer me what I wanted more than anything. I haven’t seen that yet, sweetheart.” She then smiles as she twirls a piece of her hair with her finger. “I’m still waiting….”

“I did say that I owe you one, but I didn’t say this weekend or today, now did I?” Brad turns around, grin forming on his face as he walks right up to her.

“Yeah, but I know you want me…” He then slips his finger down her pants, running it along her slit. “You’re all wet and juicy and wanting me. You want me. You want all of me. You just don’t want to admit it.” She feels herself craving to his touch, almost kneeling over in slight as he pushes his finger inside of her.

“Bradley….” He smiles, hearing her purr his name.

“Yes Juliette?” She then lets out a low moan as she pulls him closer to her.

“Stop being a little tease and get the deed done. We have a party to get to, remember?” He smiles, continuing to push his fingers inside of her.

“I remember….but a party for two sounds so much better….” She couldn’t deny those words.

“Bradley, stop teasing….”

“Why sweetie?” He then leans in, kissing her lips, as he continues to fondle inside of her.

“Because I need you…..” He then backs up a little, smiling.

“I thought you’d never say those words.” He then kisses her lips once again, before moving his tongue down to her, licking the entire way, sucking ever so lightly where the scar from the bite mark remained.

“A deal is a deal….”

“So you’re finally craving….” He then goes back to sucking her neck as she feels herself reaching out, craving him, thirst building in her mouth.

“Bradley…..” He then moves down her neck to her shoulder, slipping the strap off from her tank top, before licking and sucking there, too.

“Yes?” He then repeats the process on the other side.

“Why are you making this so damn hard? I thought you wanted this more….” He then laughs, enjoying the tease he was creating.

“Because I want to make it worth your while and wait…” He then slips her tank top up, pulling it off. He reaches around her back, unclasping the bra before sucking one of her nipples.

“Bradley….” There was no holding back the moans anymore, as she badly wanted to move over to the bed.

“Didn’t you try to talk me out of this? Have you changed your mind?” He then switches the sides.

“Oh gosh yes…..”

“So now you want me?” He then picks her up, carrying her over to the bed, laying her back on it, before climbing on top of her and continuing where he left off.

“Bradley….” He then lets his tongue move down to her belly button, doing a circle around it as a giggle escapes her lips.

“Ticklish, are we?” She didn’t need him having any distractions.

“Keep focus…” He then lets his tongue roam down further, licking her along the waist line.  “Damn Bradley….”

“What’s wrong my little vampire? Are we thirsty for something?” A small growl escapes her lips as a response to the question as he slips her jeans off, followed by her underwear.

“Just already, please…” He then goes along her waist again, before down her thigh and back up, while placing a finger back in her slit. “Bradley….”

“What do you want, Juliette?” She then reaches for him, pulling at his firesuit, followed by his underwear, stroking his cock.

“You know what I want, jackass.” He then looks at her in surprise.

“Desperate, are we?” She then lets out a moan, stroking him once again.

“Please…..” He then pulls his fingers out, smile crossing his finger as he moves his cock closer, brushing it along her slit, moan escaping her lips. “Please Bradley, please….”

“Your wish is my command….”

******************************

The pair walk up to the front door, glancing at each other with a smile, before opening it and going inside. They had arrived an hour later than they had anticipated due to their extracurricular activities, but neither was going to let the smile disappear off their faces in response.

Short Track Lovin’ – Chapter 92: “There’s something about you, and blue….”

Friday, June 9

Chase walked into the garage, smiling as he saw the crew guys all hanging around ready for a busy day of practice and qualifying. With the speed they’d shown lately, and a good run last week, it was time to keep the momentum rolling.

“Ready to go, superstar?” Jared Seate questions and Chase shakes his head yes. “Not missing the girl at all?”

“I’m confident that she’ll do well this weekend,” Chase answers, having followed the live updates from Kyle Busch Motorsports all-day Thursday on practice. While she wasn’t at the top of the time sheet, the fact that she felt comfortable and knew they’d be good in race trim was a good feeling. Now if they just borrowed a bit of Bell’s qualifying set-up, perhaps it’d be a stellar night for her.

“And let me guess – she’ll be here tomorrow?” Chase shakes his head no, remembering her plans.

“She’s going to stay back to watch the Stadium Super Trucks and the IndyCars. She’ll be here on Sunday, though.”

“I thought she’d be traveling back to be with you as soon as possible.” Chase laughs and shakes his head no, though partially wishing that a bit himself. He had to admit he missed her sometimes on weekends like this. Though, it was part of the schedule and he knew the summer brought that a lot with how the trucks did a lot of stand-alone events.

“We have our own lives, and our own desires. We both want to make this work. I respect hers just as much as she respects mine, so therefore we give each other space.” Jared crosses his arms as he couldn’t help but admire that.

“Then why is it your mother still has a problem with her? I mean, we’re four months removed and you guys have only grown more closer together. I mean, it’s the talk of the garage…well, besides Bubba getting a chance to drive for Petty. But still, it baffles me.” Chase knew the answer without saying much as he sat down beside the crew member.

“She still doesn’t trust her and fully grasp what happened there. She gets the reasons why she did it, and yes, she has a heart and understands. But I’m her baby and as she described to me, she’s supposed to protect me no matter what. It’s an underlying worry that she has still till she’s fully proven otherwise. It’ll take time, but it will happen. Besides, she admitted that she’s starting to grow on her….” Jared smiles, remembering that small detail amongst everything.

“I heard that comment at Dover, too – till she mentioned Sarina’s brother. It seems with her brother in the picture, it may not ever come though.” Chase knew that was a good possibility, having pondered that a bunch of times himself. It wasn’t like it was something he could brush aside either, recalling a couple recent conversations with Alan.

“I don’t blame her, honestly. I mean, look at what happened between us, right? I’ve told Alan straight out, too, that I don’t fully trust him either.” Jared watched Chase curiously, as he thought over his next question.

“Alan mentioned a worry about the poison deal being connected to him. Are you worried about that?” Chase wanted to straight out say no, however he couldn’t do that. He heard about Chris’ brief ‘fan zone’ disappearance, and seemed odd on the timing of the incidents. “I see some hesitation….”

“Let’s just say that I know what he said to me that day, and it has stuck ever since. Now, we have a job to do, right?” Jared shakes his head yes as he watches Chase stand up. “Let’s focus and do what we got to do.”

“Yes boss.” Jared then brushes his legs off, before heading the other direction as Chase lets out a sigh. Glancing at the car, he knew it was time to focus on the day at hand.

The team was able to put together a solid practice, with Chase ‘alright’ about the car after the session full of race trim runs. As they got ready to switch over for qualifying trim, he could only hope that it went accordingly to plan.

With some time to kill between the session, he made his way back to the trailer, snagging some lunch before relaxing in the lounge part of the hauler. Just as he was set to bite into his sub, his phone rang and an immediate smile formed on his face.

“Hey princess,” he says as he hit answers on the FaceTime request, instantly earning an eye roll from her.

“Oh, so you think that you can try that line on me since it worked so well for Christopher?” She questions as he laughs.

“But you’re my princess as I’d do anything to make you feel good.” She couldn’t help but giggle in response.

“Okay, that earns you a point Mr. Elliott. The only thing is I don’t know how I feel about you in orange yet. There’s something about you and blue…” He just rolls his eyes.

“Well, white definitely works for you, sweetie, as it shows off every curve – just don’t let people stare at that butt of yours.” She takes another round of chuckling.

“You’ll just have to win me over with that lovely orange….” He looks on intrigued. However, he couldn’t deny that he was loving the chat as it was nice to get in some quality flirting.

“Maybe when you’re here on Sunday I can do that. Better yet, you can show up a day early and make my weekend that much sweeter.” She then sighs. It was a big toss-up for her. One of the reasons she loved the trucks racing at Texas was the fact IndyCar and SST ran the same weekend. She loved watching both, and it was nice to get a chance to see them live for a change. However, she understood the pain of being separated for a couple days.

“You know I’m just a ring-a-ling a way if you’re that desperate for company, Chase. But anyways, I thought you could take care of yourself.” Chase chuckles.

“Oh I’m not worried about myself, dear. I know I can handle cooking and all that day. It’s you that I worry about.” She had to laugh, knowing that her cooking was questionable at times. There were also times that she forgot to eat totally when she got busy.

“Does it make you happy that I’m eating while talking to you right now?” He shakes his head yes. “Good. So see, I can take care of myself.”

“Just make sure you have a good safe, fun, clean night. I want to see what a cowboy hat looks like on that sweet head of yours.” She smiles, wishing for the same result.

“I’m going to try, buddy. Alright – I better go as Marcus wants to chit chat soon. Talk later?” He shakes his head yes. “Love you.”

“Love you, more. Bye Sarina.” He then hangs up as he kicks his feet up, eating the rest of his sub as he watched XFINITY practice. That phone call was exactly what he needed.

The relaxation lasted for a good hour before a knock at the door, and he knew it was time for qualifying. Making his way out of the trailer, he grabs one of the markers off the counter and heads out. Taking his time along the way, he signs some autographs for the fans as he heads out to pit road.

He makes his way out to pit road and the walk down to his stall for the session, set to lay down the best lap that he could imagine.

“I was wondering where you were,” he hears a male voice as he reaches there, surprised to see his parents. They had told him they were coming, but weren’t sure if they’d get there for Friday or not.

“I was taking my time, but knew I’d be here with time to spare,” he answers as he fixes his shoes.

“Any updates from Texas?” He shakes his head no, knowing the truck series qualifying session was scheduled around the same time that he was supposed to go out for his session.

“She’s supposed to text me when she’s done, just as I am supposed to do for her.” Bill shakes his head, understanding. It was the same agreement that they had in place when she was racing a late model for him.

“Her brother and that supposed cousin with her?” Cindy asks and Chase shakes his head yes, only imagining what his mom would say next.

“Well, Bethany actually isn’t with them since Sarina told her off this week after the family comment stunt,” he starts. “Bethany stopped by and made some other comment about that reunion. Sarina told her to fly a kite because she wasn’t doing family drama anymore.” Cindy rolls her eyes.

“But yet she still hangs around with her brother?” Chase lets out a sigh, having a feeling that was coming.

“We’ve talked about this, and that’s all I’m going to say. I’ve told you what she’s said about her brother. I’ve also told you that I’m being cautious and careful. Now, can we drop it, please?” Cindy shakes her head, knowing there were bigger fish to fry. Besides, as long as he aware, that was all that mattered.  “It is nice to see you both, though.” Chase then walks away, heading over to Alan as Cindy watches on.

“You need to relax a little,” Bill comments as he rubs her shoulders.

“But I’m Mama Bear and it’s my job to prote-” Cindy starts.

“But your cub is growing up, and learning to handle things for himself. Besides, you both are just going around in circles. You see how much he loves her. Respect that, embrace that. Give her a chance.” She then looks back at Bill.

“You’re just worried that he’s going to be mad at me and not talk to me, aren’t you? You don’t want to lose that…” Bill just pulls her back close. “Don’t worry – I won’t let it come to that. But I will not back down when it comes to protecting him.”

The debates of the afternoon were all put aside through the next couple of hours with the focus being on qualifying. Still fighting a loose condition, Chase was unable to lay down the lap he wanted and barely missed out on making it to the second round, qualifying 25th.

“I should’ve went further on that adjustment,” Alan comments after the session is over. “I’m sorry.” Chase shrugs his shoulders.

“There’s a lot of ways to get to the front, strategy or passing,” Chase says. “We’ll work on the car a little tomorrow and be fine for Sunday. Don’t worry.” Alan smiles, liking the confidence from his driver.

“I believe you’re right as we know what we need to do now.” Chase shakes his head yes as he grabs his phone off the pit cart. “Any update?” He shakes his head no as he lets out a sigh.

“Pole!!!!” Jared Seate lets out, causing everyone to look over confused.

“Um, none of our cars on the pole,” Alan states the obvious as Jared laughs, shaking his head.

“Truck Series live timing and scoring – I have it loaded on my phone from NASCAR’s website. Someone is going to love-a-dub his update from his girl.” Chase then looks over at Jared with a face of amazement.

“Seriously?” He questions and Jared shakes his head yes, walking over as he shows Chase the scoring monitor.

“Read it and weep, baby. Sarina Ott just got her first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series pole at Texas Motor Speedway. How does that feel?” Chase immediately smiles as he lets out a small woohoo.

“That’s awesome!” He then grabs his phone, texting her immediately to say congratulations, knowing she’d get it once done with all the photos and such.

“So, where are you watching this truck race tonight?” Chase looks over at Jared, intrigued. “We were stealing Alan’s suite at the hotel tonight because he’s got the 70 inch screen in there. That’d allow you to see her full screen…”

“Do you really want a panicking boyfriend ruining our viewing experience?” Chad Avrit questions as Chase laughs.

“Me? Panicking?” He asks and Chad shakes his head yes.

“I saw you at Talladega. You’re nervous watching her.” Chase chuckles, though knew that the crew guys were right.

“Regardless, I think it’d be fun if you join us…” Jared continues as Chase thinks it over, figuring company was perhaps a good idea since Ryan and Darrell had ditched him.

“Fine, just so I can drive Chad crazy,” he comments.

A VampWolf Wedding – Chapter 16: Winstar 400

Brad walks into the motorcoach, smiles as he sees Juliette curled up on the couch, glancing over something.

“Do I want to know what you’re doing?” He questions as she lets out a chuckle.

“Figuring out the final piece of our wedding,” she answers as he looks on surprised. He didn’t think she’d ever get through her planning, but knew better late than never with the date set for next month.

“Oh, really? So you figured out the idea for our ceremony?” They had broken down the werewolf traditions together following Brad’s discussion with his parents, followed by figuring out the vampire traditions, courtesy of Edward. Juliette had everything mapped out on a page, trying to twirl together the best of both worlds in a sensible fashion.

“I think I have it down to a science, and I think that you will approve.” He sits beside her after slipping out of his firesuit, glancing through the notes that she made. It honestly wasn’t as bad as he thought it would be.

“I can handle this, I think….” She then chuckles as she thought there’d be objections with some of the steps. However, it was nice to be on the right track for once.

“Now, it’s just our wedding vows. Do you want to go traditional, proper, or make our own vows?” He thought it over, nerves flowing. He could easily write himself a blog on the website and pour his feelings out.  He was also good at expressing himself with ease. However, telling her how much he loved her in front of everybody? That may give him stage freight.

“What do you think?” He didn’t know whether it was a good idea or not to give the option to her. Knowing how girls worked, he could see what was coming – hence the scribbled notes on the paper underneath what he had just read.

“I like the idea of our own vows. It’ll just make the wedding that much more special.” He then lets out a sigh, knowing there was no choice now.

“Then that’s what we’ll do. I’m fine writing my own.” She then smiles, glad, as she had already put in a half hour of trying different things.

“So  why don’t you go grab a shower so you’re not so stinky, and I’ll make us something for supper? Then we can see how the boys make out in Texas tonight.” A sly smile forms on his lips.

“I thought maybe you’d like to join me for the shower.” Her cheeks immediately flush red as he pulls her close, kissing her lips. “We got a weekend with just us since your brother is watching Melody. Why don’t we take full advantage of that?”

“Careful puppy, you’re bound to get me pregnant with another one of your crazy wolves…” He then chuckles as he wraps his arms around her to keep her held close.

“And what’s wrong with that?” She smiles, knowing that she wouldn’t mind a second child – just not right yet. She wanted to get through Melody’s stages of growth, first.

“Nothing at all. But, for now, I say we stick to the plan….” He lets out a sigh as he lets her go, getting up off the couch. “You’ll be the one all grumpy if you miss the start of the truck race…”

“We could always do the shower together, and go for a smaller dinner than normal?” She then gives him a small push as he looks back with a grin. “Come on….”

“I want to finish up this first, okay?” He lets out a sigh, pouting a little. “Brad…”

“Juliette….” She shakes her head, licking her lips, as she watches him head down the hall. It was so hard to resist the offer.

**************************************

The pair focused their eyes on television, watching the battle for the lead come down to the final stages. They were already yelling at the TV and back and forth in regards to the previous pair of restarts. Brad insisted that Christopher Bell jumped one of them. Juliette insisted that Chase Bricoe should’ve restarted as the leader for the second.

“Caution!” The commentators let out, causing looks of confusion as to what could be the cause, and who was leading.

“I swear to gosh….” Brad starts, knowing he’d scream if it was a stupid reason.

“Holy crap Peters!” Juliette lets out as they show a replay of Timothy Peters’ flip. Not a bad reason for a caution. “Glad that he’s okay because that was….Holy!”

“Good to see him moving around.”  They then watch as TV waits for the replay and call of who won the race.

“And we’re hearing Christopher Bell is tonight’s race winner,” the broadcaster says, causing Brad’s jaw to drop. They then show a clip of the fence caution lights going on, with Christopher and Chase side-by-side.

“Bell won?!?” Juliette questions as she sees a blue bumper barely ahead. “That’s horseshit! Are you sure Kyle is not paying off NASCAR?”

“I have no idea,” Brad says, shaking his head. “There is no way that Christopher won. Chase’s bumper is clearly ahead as the fence lights up. There is no way…..”

“I’ve said before the officials are blind, but they are more certainly blind tonight!” They then see the clip of Buddy Sisco on pit road, yelling with the official.

“I’ve never seen Buddy fired up like that, but I don’t blame him. There is no way….”

“This is ridiculous! First, they suspend crew members for a simple mistake on pit road due to how they wrote their dumb rule about secure lug nuts, and now this? Seriously, how much is Kyle and Toyota paying NASCAR?” Brad shakes his head in disbelief, though then holds his breath as he watches them interview his driver. Surprisingly, Chase took the calm level-headed approach, and didn’t say anything out of turn.

“He handled that a lot better than I would’ve. I would’ve been fuming!” Brad then stands up, snatching his phone off the table as he texts Buddy, along with a couple other crew members. “This is ridiculous…”

“Please tell me that Buddy is marching into the hauler right now to yell at NASCAR?!?” Brad shakes his head yes, reading the response. “I mean, you can’t tell me that Christopher won based on that crappy replay….”

“I know, I know. Buddy is going to see what he can do…” Brad then grabs a drink from the fridge, before plopping back on the couch with Juliette. They wait awhile in silence, rolling their eyes as Christopher is interviewed in victory lane. It took around six minutes, but Brad’s phone went off. “Hello?” Juliette looks over, watching Brad’s facial glances, knowing that he was talking to Buddy about the conversation with NASCAR. It seemed pretty obvious that perhaps the right call was made and Christopher was the winner. However, Juliette could only look on confused at the thought as she watched Brad hang up after awhile.

“Well?”

“NASCAR timestamps the video and they mark exact time they throw a caution – hour, minute, second. They showed Buddy the timestamp to match and boom, Christopher was ahead. The caution actually flew two seconds earlier. The lights are on delay.” Juliette’s jaw drops in shock.

“Seriously?” Brad shakes his head yes. ”Well somebody should tell Eddie Gossage to fix his damn lights so they do a better job, or stick ‘em up his ass.” Brad chuckles as he takes to twitter, explaining things in a couple of tweets. He knew it was only fair to apologize for what he said earlier, especially since he respected Christopher.

“You aren’t the only one saying that…..”

“I’m the only one that will take the damn bulb and stick it there, though.” Brad chuckles again as he finishes up with his last tweet, setting his phone down and turning his eyes on her.

“How about instead of doing that you focus your energy on me?” She smiles as she grabs him by his shorts, pulling him right close to her and kissing his lips.

“It’d be my damn pleasure…..”

Short Track Lovin’ – Chapter 91: Testing

Tuesday, June 6

Chase Elliott walks into the garage, seeing the crew looking over the car as he lets out a sigh. He glances over, seeing Daniel Suarez standing there texting someone on his phone.

“Bored yet?” He questions after Daniel had finished typing the message.

“Impatient,” Daniel answers as Chase laughs, shaking his head in agreement. “No Sarina?” Chase shakes his head no.

“She had to do some stuff at the shop for Kyle so she couldn’t come.” Daniel shakes his head, understanding. “Do you have a girlfriend?” Daniel shakes his head no as Chase looks on shocked. “Really? I thought you would’ve talked some girl up all nice in Spanish.”

“No senorita yet to accept. Do you know any Spanish?” Chase chuckles.

“Does Un and hola count?” Daniel rolls his eyes. “Seriously, how did you learn to speak English?”

“Cartoons. I watched Barney – he’s a little strange. I watched teletubies and found them stranger.” Chase couldn’t help but laugh.

“I can’t believe I watched those when I was younger and loved them just because of how strange they are now. Please tell me that you watched Caillou?” Daniel smiles and shakes his head yes as Chase laughs. “Oh wow….”

“I’m just a kid whose four, each day I grow some more, I like exploring I’m Caillou. So many things to do….” Chase just laughs as he hears the song again. “You know the words?”

“Unfortunately, I do remember them as doesn’t it go each day is something new, I’ll share them with you, I’m Caillou. My world is turning, changing each da-”

“Please tell me that you aren’t singing Caillou,” David Ragan interrupts the pair as they laugh. “Oh my gosh. I thought I heard enough of that from my kids. Why oh why?”

“Daniel was telling me about how he learned English from watching Caillou, Teletubies and Barney,” Chase explains as David looks at the rookie in surprise.

“Really?” Daniel shakes his head yes. “Did you watch Sesame Street?”

“Learn to count thanks to Count Dracula,” Daniel comments. “Elmo and Big bird were good, too.”

“Least you watched some good shows,” David says before walking away.

“Why you ask?” Chase thinks back as to why the discussion originally started.

“I was just curious, honestly,” Chase says.

“Did you want to learn Spanish?” Daniel wonders as Chase thinks it over.

“Maybe…” Daniel then smiles.

“Go home and watch Dora, and then Dieago. They are good.” Chase laughs and shakes his head no immediately. “No?”

“I am not sitting down and watching Dora go exploring. That darn swiper fox will annoy me.” Daniel had to admit that Chase was probably right.

“You can try watching La Ritita Presumida or Charlie y Lola. They are better.”  Chase thinks it over, catching his interest. “Now, you want to impress senorita. Does she know, Spanish?” Chase wasn’t sure of Sarina knew any Spanish as he’d never asked.

“I don’t know…” Daniel thinks it over.

“Buy flowers and chocolate. Then say, ‘Oh Sarina, eres la mujer más bella que conozco. No puedo describir lo mucho que te amo.’ She will be impressed.” Chase then looks at him shocked.

“Say what? Can I have that written down or something?” Daniel chuckles as he writes it out in text message, sending it to Chase. “Yeah, okay, that will take practice. What does that mean?”

“She is beautiful and you love her so much.” Chase smiles as that sounded right. “You could say, ‘Sé que soy el mejor piloto, y podría ganarte cualquier día de la semana,’ but she may kick your ass.” Chase then looks on confused. “You are the better driver, and could beat her anywhere.”

“Send me that…” Chase knew it’d be a good test of her Spanish knowledge, even if he didn’t know for sure whether Daniel was truthful.

“I will send another she love…” Chase looks on confused as he looks at the message. “Sé que soy un imbécil que realmente no habla español bien.”

“Translation?” Daniel just smiles as he walks away.

“She will love you…” Chase couldn’t help but be confused. However, noticing the team was ready, he knew there was no time to waste.

*******************************

Wednesday, June 7

Sarina pulls him close as he walks through the door, giving him a big hug.

“You actually got home a couple hours early,” she says as they walk through the house together. “What gives?”

“We got done early so I headed out of there,” he tells her as he keeps an arm wrapped around her. “I wanted to spend time with you before you left.” She smiles as they sit down on the couch together. “Kyle make you work hard?”

“Nah – just some autographs and a debrief with the guys. Nothing I can complain about. Alan make you work hard?” Chase shakes his head no.

“Just turning left multiple times, followed by explaining how that felt. I think we settled on a good set of tires for everybody.” She smiles as it was always nice when a test went well.

“I heard you and Daniel were practicing Spanish….” He then smiles, shaking his head yes as he takes out his phone. “Uh oh….”

“Sé que soy el mejor piloto, y podría ganarte cualquier día de la semana…..I think I said that right.” She then chuckles.

“Do you even know what you said?” He shakes his head yes, reading the translation underneath. “Right, because that’s a load of crock as I bet your ass that I’d win.”

“Didn’t I win at Martinsville this year? I also beat you at Atlanta, too.” She then rolls her eyes.

“Why don’t we go get some go-karts and I’ll show you how the bump and run works?” He then looks on surprised.

“Oh really? That’s how this is going to be?” She shakes her head yes with a smile. “As tempting as that is, I say we spend the night in cuddling since I’m going to be missing you for three whole days.” She then curls up close to him, easily accepting without a fight.

“So, what else did he teach you?” Chase re-opens the text messages, debating which one to read next. He knew for sure what the first one meant word for word, but was unsure about the second given how quickly Daniel walked away.

“Oh Sarina, eres la mujer más bella que conozco. No puedo describir lo mucho que te amo.” A smile forms on her face immediately as she looks up into his eyes.

“Oh Chase, eres muy guapo también. Te quiero mucho y te amaré siempre.” He then looks on a little confused as she smiles. “It means your handsome, I love you and I’ll cherish you.” He then steals a quick kiss from her. “I see he was showing you his charm for the senorita.”

“You could say that, after he got done singing Caillou.” She then laughs as she heard about the singing experience that happened.

“Least you weren’t caught singing Barney. I think that’d be more embarrassing.” He shakes his head in agreement. “What else did he teach you?”

“He told me one more thing to tell you. Sé que soy un imbécil que realmente no habla español bien.” She then breaks out laughing even harder as she shakes her head in amazement. She couldn’t wait to text Daniel back after this experience. “That bad?”

“I know I’m an imbecile who does not really speak Spanish well.” He then looks on shocked.

“Honestly?” She shakes her head yes. “I knew that last one had to be a prank because he was laughing as he walked away. What a jackass!” She laughs even harder as she curls back up close to Chase.

“It’s okay, I love you and I appreciate the effort. By the way, if you want to learn, trust me instead. I’ll at least not lie to you.” He could only shake his head in disbelief.

“Yeah, thanks….” She then keeps her arms wrapped around him as she brushes her lips against his, taking them in.

“Chase, I’m going to miss you…” He keeps his arms wrapped around her, rubbing her shoulders.

“It’s only three days….”

“Three days too many…” She then lays her head back against his chest. “Promise me you’ll be careful?”

“You better promise me the same thing.” She shakes her head, accepting. Why was it they were both at two of the fastest tracks apart from each other? “And don’t you dare accept drinks from strangers.”

“Again, you better promise me the same. I don’t want no hospital text messages.” Chase could only shake his head in agreement. “Why is it so hard this time around?”

“Because we both realize how much we mean to each other, and we both scared the crap out of each other.” She feels her nerves twitch at the thought of Talladega on the mind.

“No repeating Talladega, okay?”

“No repeating it either.” He then rubs her shoulders, once again. “We’ll be fine. We’ll both have amazing weekends as we text and face time each other whenever we get a chance. We’ll do it so much that we’ll annoy our crew chiefs.” She then chuckles, knowing that was easy with Marcus.

“Long as your crew guys aren’t reading the messages, I’m okay with Alan….” He then chuckles, knowing how troublesome his crew could be at times.

“I’ll keep their paws off, don’t worry.”

Short Track Lovin’ – Chapter 90: AAA 400 Drive for Autism

Christopher Bell leans back against a post, watching Chase and Sarina walk through the garage together. He could only let out a sigh as Todd Gilliland walked up to join him.

“You seem a little disheartened watching them,” Todd comments, catching a glance from Christopher. “If I didn’t know you had a girlfriend, I’d say you were crushing on her.” Christopher chuckles as he lets out a sigh.

“She’s not that bad looking bud, but you’re right – no crushing,” Christopher says. “I’m just thinking about what she said to me.”  Todd then glances over surprised.

“When she called you a jackass?” Christopher laughs and shakes his head no.

“We talked on Friday, actually. She asked me to get off her back and stop annoying her about Chase. I said I guess I could, but I had my reasons. I mean, you know – oh wait, you probably don’t know much about the fight they had after what happened at the Winter Meltdown, do you?” Todd shakes his head no. “Anyways, I have my doubts and concerns of their fight and what happened with her brother. I’m worried about her, you know? So she accepted that they were reasonable concerns in response, and told me her reasons as to why they weren’t bothering her. I accepted.”

“So that should mean this is all over and you staring is nothing, right?” Christopher glances at his teammate and shrugs his shoulders.

“It should, but I asked her why it meant a lot to her. Let’s just say that her response was interesting as to her background, and how she hasn’t had that person for stability or trust in her life – till she got the chance to run a late model down here, and till she met Chase. He’s only the second person, per her, to give her a true chance. It made me think…”

“You’re starting to realize that you were a jackass?” Christopher turns his head sharply as Todd smiles. “Hey, it’s okay to admit it. We’ve all done that before.”

“I guess…..”

********************************

Chase stood by the car on pit road, leaning against it as he lets out a sigh. If it was up to him, he’d just snap his fingers and it would be race time. Instead, he had to wait impatiently for opening ceremonies to commence.

“I’m surprised you don’t got a body guard or something hanging around,” He hears and glances over at his mom. He takes off his sunglasses, giving her a surprised glance.

“Why do you say that?” He questions, waiting for some reference to Sarina’s brother.

“Between Jared being poisoned, to that driver at Bristol, and then now Jake this weekend, I thought security would’ve been increased.” He couldn’t blame her as he had wondered the same after the events experienced. However, instead, they each go briefed on the happenings and that was all.

“We were just warned about the usual protocol of watch where you get stuff from, and make sure nobody is slipping something in your cup. That’s why this is being held close…” His mom walks over, giving him the once over as she glances at the bottle of Gatorade.

“Have they done any proper investigating?” Bill wonders. “Any leads?” Chase shrugs his shoulders, knowing the authorities were giving little details as possible.

“I know Jared went through a good questioning session with them as they wondered what he remembered and who was around him. Alan, Greg and a couple of the guys also got questioned as to how much he was around them and away from them, and also background checked due to possible reasoning – who knows why. I had a quick round of questions with them being my crew member, and Sarina spent a good round with them due to Jake.”

“Any update on Jake?” Sarina smiles as she walks over, wrapping an arm around Chase.

“I went and saw him yesterday actually,” she states. “He’s doing pretty good. They said that he is in the clear so he should be released soon and back to work. Didn’t Jared go back to work this week?” Chase shakes his head yes, pointing to him as he sat on the wall with the other guys.

“That’s good to hear.”

“Oh yes, because everybody needs Jared picking on them,” Chase comments as Jared perks up.

“Did you say something over there, Mr. Elliott?” Jared questions as Chase looks back.

“You’re hearing things…” Jared then stands up and walks over.

“I don’t think so….” He then wraps an arm around Sarina and leads her away. “Listen, that boy there, he’s trouble. You got to watch that one. I tell you he’s going to play games with you.” She then laughs as she looks back over at Chase.

“I don’t think I have anything to worry about man,” she comments as she sneaks out of his grasp and back over to Chase.

“Find your own girl; this sweetpea is all mine,” Chase says as he gives her a quick kiss.

“Sweetpea?” Bethany questions as she walks over. “That’s an interesting nickname that I’d never hear said in reference to Sarina.” Sarina then looks over at her cousin and brother.

“And that’s a nickname that you’ll never ever damn well repeat,” Sarina states as Bethany just smirks at her.

“Wait till the family reunion. Sarina Sweetpea Ott.” Sarina glances down at the comment, shaking her head.

“We’re having one of those?” Bethany shakes her head yes. “Lovely. Count me out.”

“Why is that?” Sarina looks over at her cousin.

“Because I told you damn well what I thought of the family. Wasn’t that made clear already? Been through enough shit to do that.”

“Easy,” Chase comments as he rubs her shoulders. “Bethany, why don’t you can the topic for now and we talk about it later, okay?” She then rolls her eyes as she glances at Chris.

“Want to go find our seat?” She question and he shakes his head yes. They then head off together as Chase lets out a sigh.

“Family ties that bad?” Bill questions as they walk away and Sarina shakes her head yes.

“I’d rather not talk about it, but yeah,” she answers as she glances into Chase’s eyes. He knew her reasons as he kept his arms tightly wrapped around her.

“Hence why I said that I couldn’t trust them,” Cindy says, earning a stern glance from both Bill and Chase. “Don’t give me that look. You boys know what I said.” Sarina remembered her thoughts when speaking with Bell as she takes a deep breath. If she was going to earn Cindy’s trust, that started now.

“Cindy, I know I have a questionable past and certainly I know that has caused issues – I apologize continually over and over for what happened. But I can assure you and promise you that I will never, ever hurt your son again or your family. I love you both and you’re both sweet as ever, and that’s not my intention here. I love Chase, I can’t wait for what’s to come in the future, and there’s really no words to describe what I feel. I just hope that over time you can give me the respect and maybe a little love that I’ve got for you.” Cindy crosses her arms, eyes focused on the young lady in her son’s arms.

“With all due respect Ms. Chelsy Dryer, I can’t just turn a leaf and pretend that nothing happ-”

“I understan-”

“So don’t expect me to just bend over and say everything is fine till I damn well see what you’re saying. Based on your questionable family history and given your brother’s past, I think I have a very reasonable concern as to why I’m not comfortable with Bethany or Chris hanging around Chase and everybody. I think there’s reasons for me to double check safety at times. You probably get that, don’t you? Perhaps if you would’ve taken the whole deal seriously from the start, ousted your brother, solved this problem and then kept distance, you could’ve got what you wanted.” Sarina felt taken back by the comments – even more surprised in the usage of her real name. However, it was understandable given Cindy’s feelings on the situation.

“I understand what you’re saying, fully. All I can do is say my peace and try and show you, and hopefully it comes over time. There’s nothing else to say. And as far as my brother, we went through that in what happened with the brain surgery and such.” Cindy rolls her eyes, remembering.

“Don’t need a reminder. Chase, good luck today sweetheart. I hope you have a good run and we’ll talk after.” Chase rolls his eyes, knowing the discussion will be again whether he should trust Sarina or not. A glance at his dad hopefully meant that he’d have a talk with her first.

“Thanks,” he replies. “I love you.” He lets go of Sarina, walking over to give his parents each a hug, before returning to her as they make their way down pit road.

“I’m sorry….” Sarina says quietly as he pulls her back close.

“You don’t have to a single thing to say sorry about. Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody has a questionable decisions of their past. It’s not your fault what your family did. I know you feel bad for your mistakes and yes they hurt, but it’s okay. I’ve forgiven you because of the effort that you’ve put forth to fix the situation and just by how much you love me.” He turns her around in his arms, looking into her eyes. “I love you….”

“But I started that deal with Betha-”

“You have every right to skip that family reunion and tell her that straight up. I was fine with that. I just got her to cool off for now because we don’t need to do that here.” Sarina then glances down.

“But your mother….” He then puts his hand under her chin, tilting her head back up so their eyes were locked together.

“Remember – I told you that it’d take time with my mom. She’s going to test and twist you every way that she can imagine. That’s because I’m her baby bear, and she’s going to do whatever she can to protect me – she’s always been that way. Don’t let what she says get to you and trust that over time, she’ll see why I love you so much and love you just the same. She did let you in her house, right?” Sarina chuckles and shakes her head yes. “I love you.”

“I love you, too.” She then gives him a kiss as they hear the cue for opening ceremonies.

Letting out a sigh as he grabs her hand firmly, he couldn’t wait for the race to start and leave this all in the rearview. There was some nagging part of him that agreed with his mom’s concerns over Chris. Bethany – that was an unsolvable interest.

Sarina walks up to him after the race, wrapping both arms around him as she reaches up and kisses his lips.

“I’m so damn proud of you!” She tells him. “You drove your butt off on that last restart to get up there and snag a top-five. That’s how you do it.” He then smiles as he spins her around his arms.

“It’s nice to break the curse, as we say,” he replies as he sets her back down. “And thank you.”

“You’re amazing. I can’t wait for your first win…”

“You’re going to get one, too.” He then takes her hand, giving the pit crew a quick wave before they head off together.

“What are we going to do about this week?” He lets out a sigh and shakes his head. Beyond Monday, the pair weren’t going to get a lot of time together. he was off to Chicago to test on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed her heading off to Texas on Thursday for practice. She was then racing in Texas on Friday while he was at Pocono for practice and qualifying. With her plans to stay in Texas on Saturday for the IndyCar race, that meant the pair wouldn’t see each other till Sunday – and that was only if she made the trip from Texas to Pocono for the Cup race.

“Promise me that you’ll text me and face time as much as you can?” She shakes her head yes.

“Of course. Promise me that you’ll kick ass?” He then laughs.

“As long as you do the same.” He then lets out a sigh as he looks towards her. “We better get used to this as we have a long summer ahead of us.” She shakes her head, knowing there were going to be plenty of weekends apart.

“As long as we both run well and remind each other of how much we love each other, I say we’ll be okay.” He smiles as he gives her a hand a squeeze.

“I hope you’re right…”
